Hong Kong, 3 April 2025: BC&C’s Foreign Legal Consultant Pádraig Seif was delighted to share his experiences as a Hong Kong citizen, business leader and lawyer in a keynote address at a seminar organised by Our Hong Kong Foundation.
Born and raised in Germany with Irish roots, Pádraig’s Asian odyssey took him first to Japan and then Singapore, but it was Hong Kong’s openness, multiculturalism and spirit that made him decide to make the city his home for the past 13 years.
“Speaking as a lawyer and businessman, Hong Kong has so much going for it. The common law legal system is fundamental to the city remaining an international financial centre, the wide use of English in law and business makes for ease of transactions, and freedom of information enables reliable data from government and administrative bodies,” he says.
“But for all these qualities, Hong Kong is defined by its people: their sense of humour, resilience and adaptability. It is our fellow citizens who make this place so quintessentially ‘Hong Kong’ and they are the chief reason why I am here with my family.”
Pádraig – dual-qualified as a German Rechtsanwalt and English Solicitor – specialises in investment funds, asset management and tax structuring. As Foreign Legal Consultant with BC&C, he advises on complex international transactions. He is also an SFC-licensed financial services adviser and President of the Irish Chamber of Commerce.
The seminar, themed “From Hotbox to Asia’s Fast Lane”, was held at the Sun Hung Kai Centre in Wanchai. The opening address was given by former Justice Secretary Elsie Leung, a member of Our Hong Kong Foundation’s Board of Governors. Pádraig also took part in a dialogue session with quantitative analyst Chrissy Au which was moderated by journalist Nury Vittachi.
