Alex Liu briefs new business owners

Alex Liu briefs new business owners

Hong Kong, 4 August 2020: New business owners and entrepreneurs received a lesson in the legal aspects of fundraising when they logged in to an online presentation by Boase Cohen & Collins Partner Alex Liu.

Drawing on his considerable experience in business law, Mr Liu guided the audience through the fundraising process, from term sheet to due diligence, valuation, shareholders agreement and subscription agreement. He finished with a Q&A session, fielding multiple queries from viewers eager to get to grips with the subject matter.

“The legal aspects of fundraising can appear daunting, especially if you’re a first-time entrepreneur seeking investors. This presentation was designed to allay a few fears and give viewers clarity about the key issues they need to pay heed to in achieving a commercial deal which will suit their best interest,” said Mr Liu.

His talk was part of a two-day webinar, “Term Sheet Bootcamp – Fundraising Level-up”, organised by Taiwan Startup Stadium, a commercial enterprise providing support and guidance for new business owners. Featuring panel discussions, interactive workshops and 1-on-1 mentoring sessions, the event was held on-site at Taiwan’s National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology and online for participants throughout the region.

Mr Liu spoke from the campus of Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University, a partner in the bootcamp which was being held for the fifth year in a row.

A Partner in Boase Cohen & Collins since 2000, Alex Liu’s core practice areas include Commercial and Corporate Litigation, Dispute Resolution, investigations by governmental bodies, Commercial Contracts and Intellectual Property. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He can be contacted at Alex@boasecohencollins.com.
