BC&C legal team welcomes new trainees
Hong Kong, 3 September 2020: Colin Cohen has hailed Boase Cohen & Collins’ proud tradition of nurturing young legal talent after the firm welcomed two new Trainee Solicitors, Kyle Ho and Nicole Chong, to the team.
“Since Melville Boase and I co-founded this firm in 1985, we have welcomed through our doors countless young trainees who have gone on to enjoy successful careers in the legal profession. I’m sure this will be the case for Kyle and Nicole and we are delighted to have them on board,” said Colin, BC&C’s Senior Partner since 2004.
“It is a fact that half our current Partners began their career with this firm, as did the vast majority of our Senior Associates and Associates. In addition, we currently have nine young legal professionals either on the verge of being admitted as Solicitors or in the midst of their traineeships. We have always championed investing in youth and offering aspiring young lawyers a clear career path.”
Kyle brings a diverse background to the firm, first completing a journalism degree and working as a newspaper and TV news reporter, then moving into corporate communications. He returned to studying with a Bachelor of Laws at the University of London and completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Laws at HKU.
Nicole studied for her law degree at HKU which included an exchange semester at the University of Copenhagen. Among her many extracurricular activities, she was a delegate to the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations in 2018 and a legal support volunteer for the charity Mother’s Choice the year before.
BC&C supports all three law schools in the territory – HKU, Chinese University and City University – with foundation donations and prizes for academic excellence, while Colin is an honorary lecturer at HKU and an external examiner. Further, the firm’s annual Criminal Law Lecture, held in conjunction with HKU, is open to all law students in Hong Kong.
