Hong Kong, 11 March 2024: Teams turned out in record numbers for the annual Boase Cohen & Collins Inter-School Sailing Festival, with 214 sailors braving wet and windy conditions to take part in a weekend of intense match racing.
A total of 26 teams representing 19 educational establishments – including two from mainland China – competed in the regatta, organised by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club at its Middle Island facility.
“This was our sixth time sponsoring the event and we enjoyed it, as always,” says BC&C Managing Partner Alex Liu, who presented the prizes together with Yacht Club Commodore Lucy Sutro. “We were thrilled to see so many sailors taking part, around 60 more than last year, as the regatta continues to grow.
“Our congratulations go to all the competitors, staff and volunteers for making the Sailing Festival such a success. As well, many thanks to the Yacht Club for their excellent hospitality towards our guests.” BC&C hosted more than 40 guests to a Sunday afternoon buffet in the clubhouse as racing took place offshore.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, the regatta still saw 78 races over the span of two days. Hong Kong Academy were crowned champions of Division A while Chinese International School Two emerged as winners of Division B.
